Krishnakumar Kunnath or 'KK' as he is popularly known as was born on the 23rd of August, 1970 in Kerala. As a child he wanted to be a doctor. KK gave his first stage performance when he was in the second grade. KK switched from Hindi to English songs during his teens. His versatile voice was soon tapped by various ad agencies in Delhi for jingles. He even formed a rock band with his friends and played drums for two other rock bands and did vocals. He has been greatly influenced by the singer Kishore Kumar and music director R.D.Burman.
KK was stuck in his 9 to 5 job in Delhi until he finally decided to pack his bags and come to Mumbai. His first album 'Pal'(1999) was an instant hit and has a cult following among music lovers even today. His second album 'Humsafar' released in 2008 where he gave the music too. Some of the popular numbers from his second album are "Aasman Ke" , Yeh Kahaan Mil Gaye Hum" and "Cinereria"(English Rock Ballad). KK appeared on television too. He was invited as jury member for a talent hunt show Fame Gurukul, but he is clear that he would not like to return to television.
He has been a favourite among music directors from Bollywood and also from the South. His versatility and powerful voice distinguishes him from his contemporaries. Its a known fact that almost no one can match up the scale at which he sings some of his high pitched songs. He is aptly credited with introducing Rock to Bollywood through his chartbuster "Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai" though he had sung the Rock number "Main Khuda" even before that.
This website is my small tribute to KK - my world of music. And in no doubt the "Legend of His Time".
